I decided not to use a hoop for any of the samples to allow the fabric to distort for some of the sample. My machine continued to struggle with whip stitch. For the work on scrim I did use a small hoop. On the larger samples using scrim - the undyed ones - the scrim pulled better. For the last two samples I looked at some of the marks from my artists source materials.

5.11 - Free zig zag stitch on dyed scrim
5.12 - Free zig zag stitch on dyed scrim with trapped sari silk
5.13 - Free zig zag stitch on undyed scrim worked horizontally and vertically
5.14 - Free zig zag stitch on undyed scrim worked vertically and then with spirals
5.15 - Free zig zag stitch on undyed scrim with trapped white velvet and painted with fabric paint
