Storage

All Modules

[Updated August 2017]

I've moved rooms and now have something more like a studio. No-one was using this room so I commandeered it. I now have lots more room. Tidied today in preparation for Module 5. This is a north facing room and although the light is not as good as my previous area it is much cooler and I have room for a table in the middle which you can't see in these pictures. I can safely leave everything out and shut the door if necessary.

[Updated October 2015]

I have rearranged yet again, sorry no photo yet. My sewing machine is now out at all times on a desk with a swivel chair and this has made a huge difference. The chair in particular means I can move from sewing to table easily and am sitting comfortably at the correct height.

[Updated June 2015]

I had a move around for starting Module 2. All yarn and quilting fabric has been stored elsewhere - basically stuffed behind the sofa, under the bed etc. I bought this rack from a shop that was closing down at a bargain price of £10, which is definitely less than buying an 'official' drying rack.

I have got sketch books stored on it in the picture but I have used it as a drying rack and it worked fine.

[Updated April 2015]
I have a big pin board which I previously used for wall displays for my home educated daughters (that my husband found in a skip some years back) and they are too old for wall displays now so I got my hubbie to move it into my working area. It's making it much easier to look at my design sheets while I'm working.

March 2015

I happen to have a bit of a thing about storage (and stationary & books) which probably comes from my inbuilt natural wish to be organised. I have a fair size room to work in, which is technically the dining room, but I reorganised some time ago so I have a good working space with lots of light. Its south facing so it does get a little warm on a hot, sunny day.

It looks very tidy, its not always like this.

I'm itching to use the lovely silk threads from Pipers Silks but they were bought for a specific project. My baskets came from the Factory Shop.

This is my lovely trolley which I kept when I sold on a preschool nursery I owned. It was for my home educated children and has lasted many years of use, paint spillage and glue. When the girls decided they didn't really need it I nabbed it for my sewing. They are still available from Community Playthings and really are built to last.

A couple of the cream little trays have gone walkabout but I can fit plenty on there.

The back is technically for paper storage but I use it for all sorts and there are yet more trays - mine are mainly full of buttons!

On the other side of the room is the dining room/sewing/craft table. Whiteboard is for home education school work and the juke box is my hubbies and although it needs to live somewhere else we don't want to part with it. Handy for storage though!

And the inevitable plastic storage box - I have many of these and they mostly live under my bed.

My hubbie and girls bought me the daylight lamp for Christmas this year and it sits by my chair, Its absolutely excellent for sewing in front of the TV.

It has a handy little tray for bits - there is a lid but lets be honest that's never going on again! I tied a little pin cushion to it in an attempt to stop losing needles!
